Reflecting on my journey to establishing Liversage Golf, it all began with a passion ignited during my earliest years. My father introduced me to the world of golf when I was barely 3 or 4 years old. Armed with a shortened club, I'd gleefully hit balls and run off, oblivious to the remarkable path this sport would set me upon.
As I grew, I dabbled in various sports, but at 13, I found my calling: golf. With resolute determination, I abandoned all other activities and poured my heart into practicing and playing. Yet, the course that sparked this ardor lacked a driving range or adequate practice facilities. Undeterred, I'd pay a caddie to stand down the 18th fairway as I honed my skills, hitting balls with fervor.
Starting with a handicap of around 36 at 13, I rapidly whittled it down to a single-digit figure of 3 by 16. My journey continued as I relocated to a coastal town, joining a picturesque 27-hole course adorned with a stunning driving range and comprehensive practice amenities. My handicap plummeted even further, settling around the +3 mark.
Competing in nationwide events and representing my province alongside top amateur players, I held aspirations of turning professional. Yet, life's course led me to a different path.
At 19, still driven by my love for golf, I encountered a PGA Teaching Professional who introduced me to the world of coaching. The dream of playing at the highest level gave way to the allure of helping others unlock their potential through teaching.
Thus began my journey through the PGA Degree program. Over the next decade, my journey took me across breathtaking golf courses in South Africa and now, in the UK. While my trajectory veered toward club management, this phase bestowed invaluable experiences, managing events, interacting with passionate golfers, and honing my skills.
Now, as the founder of Liversage Golf, I'm excited to bring together my extensive experience – as a player, coach, and manager – into one cohesive venture. It's a culmination of passion, knowledge, and a desire to see that gratifying smile light up the face of a golfer who's just struck a better shot or played a better round.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to welcoming you to Liversage Golf, where we'll delve into the art and science of golf, uncovering the joy of improvement, and embracing the camaraderie of this incredible sport.
Warm regards,
Demetri Liversage
